| I get the following error
"NTLM Authentication Error Opening FrontPage
Web". If when you open or publish a
FrontPage Web on Microsoft Internet Information Server
(IIS) you receive the following error message:
HTTP 1.0 500 server error (-2146893042)
Here's what Microsoft says about how to fix it.
Enable NT Challenge/Response Authentication on IIS
To enable NT Challenge/Response Authentication,
install the Client for Microsoft Networks and set it as
your primary network client, using these steps:
- On the Start menu, point to settings, and then
click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Network icon.
- Click the Configuration tab.
- Click Add.
- In the "Select Network Component Type"
dialog box, click Client, and then click Add.
- In the Manufacturers list, select Microsoft. In
the Network Clients list, select "Client for
Microsoft Networks." Click OK.
- In the Primary Network Logon list, select
"Client for Microsoft Networks."
- Click the Identification tab, and fill in the
Computer Name and Workgroup boxes.
- Click OK.
- If you are prompted to restart Windows, click
Yes.
Configure Dial-Up Networking
- On the Windows desktop, double-click My Computer.
- Double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon.
- Right-click the connectoid for your Internet
service provider, and then click Properties.
- Click Server Type.
- Click Logon To Network.
- Click to clear the Require Encrypted Password
check box.
- Click OK.
