Hey, how come I don't get faster connections now that I have my brand new X2 modem?

There are several possible answers to your questions.

  1. Try connecting to US Robotics test line to see if a X2 connection is even possible on your phone line. You can find information on how to do this at US Robotic's web site.
  2. Check to see if your modem has the latest firmware. US Robotics users can visit the US Robotics web site for more information.
  3. Your phone lines may be noisy. Before calling the phone company, verify that your phone line cabling is in good condition. To do this, you'll need to follow the cable from the phone company's box on the outside of your house all the way to your computer. In particular, notice any exposed wiring, or poor solder connections.
