An Affair of the Arts, 2007 Benefits the Prizery
Parsons-Bruce Art Association, with generous support from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts presents “An Affair of the Arts” art show and sale October 6-19.
Saturday, October 6, 7:00 p.m. Gala Opening. Food, drink, music and the works of sixty local, regional and international artists. Black tie optional. $60 per person. 30 % of each piece sold benefits the Prizery.

Purchase Patron tickets:
Support the Prizery even more by becoming a Purchase Patron. For $500 a patron receives two tickets to the October 6 Gala, $400 towards the purchase of art, an afternoon preview and 6:00 pm reception for purchase patrons only. Individuals wanting only one ticket to the Gala receive $450 towards the purchase as well as the above benefits. Those wishing to purchase art only (no Gala tickets) receive $500 towards the purchase of art. To receive program recognition, purchase patron tickets must be purchased by September 15.

Sunday, October 7, 1:00-3:00 p.m. Free to the public. View the art, purchase the art and enjoy a reception sponsored by Halifax Woman’s Club.
Tuesday, October 9 – Art Historian Lee Sandstead presents a lecture on Edith Parsons (as in Parsons-Bruce) and other women sculptors of the era. 7:00 p.m. in the Chastain Theater.
Wednesday, October 10 – Open Mic Poetry Night. Share your poems, original or old favorites. Moderated by Andy Coe. 7:00 p.m. in the Chastain Theater.
Friday, October 12 – Julius Caesar, performed by the Aquila Shakespeare Company. 7:30 in the Chastain Theater. (Sorry, this is not a free event. Purchase tickets at www.prizery.com or call the box office at 434-572-8339.)
Monday, October 15 – View floral interpretations of selected art works designed by area garden clubs. 9:00-5:00 throughout the art exhibit.
Tuesday October 16 – Art Forum facilitated by Cheryle Ferguson. Meet some of the show’s artists and learn what motivates them. 7:00 in the Chastain Theater.
Thursday, October 18 – View a screening of the independent film You Are Here. Meet Tim Jeffrey, the film maker, at a reception following. This fascinating mystery-like drama looks at early-onset Alzheimer’s disease in a unique and touching way. Representatives from the Southeastern Virginia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will also be present to answer questions and provide educational literature on AD and related dementias. 7:00 p.m. in the Chastain Theater. Reception sponsored by The Woodview, Seasons at the Woodview and MeadowView Terrace.
Throughout the two week show and sale school children will be visiting the exhibit for scheduled docent-led tours.
